Just as the fated luxury liner Titanic, embarked upon its maiden voyage in 1912, Dr. Stanley Clark and a handful of other local physicians embarked upon their own appointment with history right here in this community. They were tired of waiting days for medical test results to arrive from other parts of the state. In their minds, it was not the best we could do for patients in local hospitals. So, they started their own medical laboratory.

Today, the laboratory they founded is called South Bend Medical Foundation -- a nationally recognized nonprofit institution that has played a major role in continuing the technological evolution of Laboratory science in this country for nearly a hundred years. Located in northern Indiana, the Foundation serves over 1,250 clients including hospitals, general physicians and specialty practices, surgicenters and extended care facilities throughout the region.

As medical laboratory professionals we know that physicians depend upon unique combinations of quality testing and diagnostic tools to optimize the health of their patients.
